I love hybrid animal/humans! <3

anyway..this piece was created as a reaction to some relationship dynamics ive recently been involved in...

It made me question..what is the social norm these days? I chose to use Victorian motifs and style of drawing as the period is a stereotype for upholding strict moral codes concerning sexual relationships.

So we have the male, the hunted..a timid flighty hare, ready to run at any moment. He has antlers as a symbol for potential dominance. Then we have the female predator, a fox, ready to chase her prey down and devour him in one bite! haha

yep..thats me. lol. Foxes are also my favourate animal.

No im not that extreme... I just like my men. :P

Are these hand-sketched starting with a blank page, or photoshopped from preexisting public domain art?

Well done-- they're completely convincing as Victorian-style etchings that might appear in a book or newspaper ad.I've already faved it. It looks like the animal etchings on the cover of an O'Neill computer advice book.

Sorry to have asked. It's just that I've encountered soooo many copyright violations and blatant art ripoffs this week that I've become super-cynical. Would you believe, I found 5 people who'd used the same base drawing from another source, just coloring it and presenting it as (often) entirely their own work? Or another dA member who posted as her own work no less than 4 ambigrams from the book and movie "Demons and Angels"?

It's soooo good to relax and take off the cynic's hat. :) Thanks.

ha really? thats tragic...but to be honest its all the worse for them...I dont really understand the gratification anyone could get from just copying someone elses work, honestly..wouldnt you feel like such a fail? lol.

thanks by the way, that means alot, I really wanted it to have an authentic Victorian etching feel :) and thanks for the fav.

Here's a typical O'Reilly PC advice bookcover. You can see how these Victorian etchings of animals look a whole lot like your art. :)

Ditto, your feelings about the copyright thief. Like an Egyptian crocodile, though, she's living in denial. She's blaming the cop rather than the criminal, and still hasn't taken down what I suspect are several other copyright infringements. :-/

Update: dA took down one more of her copyright thefts. *sigh*

No word yet on the fate of the other 4 or 5 people who've used the same piece of line art.
